How can I find my neighborhood school?
Enter a street address into our Resident School Identifier to generate a list of all designated neighborhood schools by grade level.
You can also explore schools in your neighborhood and learn more about our many Choices programs at GoTo.lausd.net.
What if my neighborhood school is in a Zone of Choice, how do I enroll?
Zones of Choice are geographic areas comprised of multiple school options. These schools offer exciting programs in the arts, business, science, humanities, social justice and more right in your neighborhood. Any student residing in a Zone of Choice is eligible to apply by selecting and ranking the schools based on preference. Eligibility is based on home address and the school's enrollment capacity. If you live in a Zone of Choice area, please visit your neighborhood school to complete a Zones of Choice application or visit the Zones of Choice website to download an application. To determine if you live in a Zone of Choice area, enter your current address in the Resident School Identifier.
How can I apply to Choices (Magnet, Permits With Transportation, Multilingual Multicultural Program, Schools for Advanced Studies, Admission Criteria Schools or Affiliated Charter Schools)?
Apply online at Apply.lausd.net beginning in October, annually.
How do I enroll if I applied to and accepted a Choices placement that is not my neighborhood school?
If your child is new to Los Angeles Unified, applied online and accepted a Choices placement, you can enroll your child online at Enroll.lausd.net.

If your child is transferring from a current Los Angeles Unified school, applied to and was accepted in a Choices program, your enrollment will be automatically transferred in our student information system. Parents can update certain enrollment forms in their Parent Portal account or may contact the school for assistance.
I tried enrolling online at Enroll.lausd.net and was unable to enroll in my neighborhood school or Choices program.
The online pre-enrollment website is only for new students to Los Angeles Unified that are enrolling in their neighborhood school or have applied online and accepted a placement prior to enrollment.

Do I have to enroll online? Can I go to the school to enroll?
Paper copies of the enrollment packet and additional enrollment support is available at each school. Contact the school for the latest information about completing your enrollment. Additional safety measures may be in place. Please contact the school before visiting for the most recent health and safety procedures.
If I live within the Los Angeles Unified boundary and want my child to attend an Los Angeles Unified school that is not my designated neighborhood school, how do I apply?
Los Angeles Unified offers parents with several options to attend another school within its boundaries.
1. Contact the school directly to inquire about an Intra-District Permit or view the guide for more information.
2. Apply for one of our many Choices programs at Apply.lausd.net beginning in October, annually.
3. Check Open Enrollment availability and apply for Open Enrollment, beginning near the end of April, annually.
If I live outside of Los Angeles Unified boundaries, and I want my child to attend an Los Angeles Unified school, how do I apply?
We would love for your child to attend an Los Angeles Unified school! We have multiple opportunities for non-District students to attend.
1. If you wish to attend one of our many neighborhood schools, please apply for an Incoming Inter-District Permit online.
2. Affiliated Charter Schools, Dual Language Education, and Admission Criteria Schools are open to any student who lives in California. Apply online at Apply.lausd.net. An Incoming Inter-District Permit is also needed, except for Affiliated Charter Schools.
3. International students on F1 or J1 visas may also apply for admission through our Foreign Student Admissions Office.
